Graveyard Shift

A puzzle game where a ghost attempts to save his coworkers from their hazardous work appliances.

Core Gameplay Loop

Click on stuff to gather the attention of the workers. A hazard will murder a worker during their shift if you don't divert their attention. The info on the right of the screen will show if a worker is currently at risk or they have escaped death. Workers can be possessed, but not controlled. Hitch a ride around the office to reach the other workers before it's too late...

What I Worked On

For this game I worked on the:

  • Models

    • All models and textures were made by hand

  • Animations

    • All animations were made by hand

  • Lighting​

    • ​I populated and designed the office​

    • Made the menus and in-game UI​

  • Some dialogue

  • Bug fixing and playtesting​​

  • Distributing and making builds of the game

Struggles and Takeaways

The greatest struggle for this project was getting a product out under an extreme deadline. This game jam was a ton of fun and showed how much I can get done in a crunch environment. There aren't any major struggles that I faced, though I would of loved to have more time to work on the programming for this game. 

My biggest takeaway for this project is to plan everything you can before getting to work. Out of the 7 days allotted to work on this project, I spent about 8 hours of it mapping out what I wanted to do and how I thought I could do it. The discussion between my team and I led to a very smooth and enjoyable experience.
